Athena does not support all DDL statements, and there are some differences between HiveQL DDL and Athena DDL. The Athena query engine is based on HiveQL DDL. Use the following DDL statements directly in Athena. While creating a table in Athena we mention the partition columns, however, the partitions are not reflected until added explicitly, thus you do not get any records on querying the table.
